Two things that will make this enjoyable for you. 1. Don’t even try to compare the board game to the movie. Think of it as an alien invading earth movie. 2. Don’t be afraid to fast forward large parts of the movie. Overall a very bad movie with a staggering budget. Don’t bother.

To me it seems incredible that money was found to turn this script into anything. This is not a good movie.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this movie, given all the bad reviews that I've seen, and the terrible box office numbers that it put up. As it turns out, I LOVED it !!! Great cast, fantastic special effects, and a pretty decent plot. I guess you've gotta not mind all the explosions and deaths, but if you don't, you should like this movie. And someone, in another comment, mentions Brooklyn Decker's bad acting. All I can say about that is: with her looks, you don't have to be that great an actor - and I didn't think she was that bad anyways.

What the heck is wrong with this system ? I haven't been able to check out anything for weeks. You offer a hold with no pick up location. Has this service been discontinued ?

Copy 12 of this disc is so scratched/marred that it will not play on any of three different players we have.

Lana Marie IT WAS A VERY GOOD MOVIE. ALTHOUGHT THE BEGINING WAS KIND OF GOOFY. IT HELD MY INTEREST.I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD WATCH IT TWICE TO MAKE SURE THEY GET IT. AND REMEMBER THE SENIORS HAVE A LOT TO OFFER THE WORLD

I liked this movie. If you like military movies than this has everything you would want to find. Cried like a baby at several points. I also stood up and cheered too. Made me wish I had served this country.

Not as bad as people made it out to be, if you can get through the first fifteen minutes and ignore Brooklyn Decker's bad acting, it's actually a decent film.

No brain strain,.. just whiz bang entertainment. Cool CGI spectacle ! I love this genre, and didn't have high expectations,.. which made for an evening of reasonable enjoyment.

Battleship is an action/explosions/sfx movie, of the military vs alien invaders subgenre, and here the hero is the US Navy. Unfortunately the film wanted to be dramatic entertainment with some appeal to wider audiences, so that for about 45 minutes or so there is a lot of standing and sitting around setting up character and relationships, etc. And worst of all, both the first and second part (some pretty cool action and effects) are bloated with overlong scenes. That kind of pacing is deadly. If there is ever a director's cut, cutting out some scenes entirely, and speeding up others would REALLY help this movie, which is a good 20-30 minutes too long. E.g. people just stand and watch (several times) as the alien slowly breaks down the door (or whatever). And it did have some very nice ideas (like the guy with prosthetic legs or the Japanese captain, or again the old timers crewing the battleship), which it is a shame to have wasted. I would watch it again, but with fast forwarding.

Cal Zapata (running down the mountain to the Jeep): "Wait up! Wait up! Don't leave! Don't leave!" Lt. Col. Mick Canales (aiming his firearm): "Stop right there!" Cal Zapata: "Don't shoot! Don't shoot!" Sam: "Who are you?!?" Cal Zapata: "I'm Cal... Zapata. We sent out a beacon..." (suddenly notices the Lt. Col's prosthetic legs) "OH SH*T! IS HE A CYBORG?!?" (jumps in bushes)

“Lieutenant Colonel Mick Canales: Let's give the world one more day. Scientist: Who talks like that?”

Scientist: I'm going to freakin save you!
