RIP Alan Arkin. This is a fantastic dark comedy all around, but Arkin's heroin-snorting grandpa steals every scene.

Never saw this movie before so took it out and am watching it now. Enjoying it so far. The dvd is a dual sided disk with one side being widescreen version and the other side full screen for older square screen 4:3 tvs. Unfortunately, OPL…

Didn't really find anything funny about this movie at all. SPOILER ALERT - and the ending is just terrible. A really dysfunctional family travels to Cali for a child beauty pageant. And I'm guessing - unbeknownst to the rest of the family…

Really liked Abigail Breslin in her breakout role-the ending is priceless. The cast was great and the movie as a whole is so funny. I definitely want to see this one again.

Amazing movie! I'm way late to the party on this film, but this movie is so good! It's funny, sad, with a mix of crazy! The cast is great, Steve Carroll, Alan Arkin, and Toni Collette were standouts to me. Please watch this one!

One of my top movies. It is hilarious. I think of it every time I hear Super Freak on the radio.

This is an adorable, quirky film about a dysfunctional family that comes together to help one of their own achieve a goal. Some dark humor, but lots of heart and an important message about mental illness.

This movie is just plain funny. If you read some of the other reviews you'll be made aware of the so called inappropriate aspects included in this film. And there are many. But if you're an adult with a sense of humor that leans toward…

Junk. Alan Arkin needs to have his mouth washed out with soap, and the rest of the cast is ridiculous. 'Nuff said about this bad, bad movie.

A feel good, family favourite! Great cast, especially, Alan Arkin.

I had heard around about this movie and I was looking for an opportunity to watch it, and I’m glad I did, it’s unique cast and characters and plot line make for a really fun movie experience. Steve Carrel’s character is unexpected and fun,…

this movie went from being coarse, crass, and vulgar, to being outright offensive, the final scene of the beauty pageant for prepubescents was a provocation towards sexual abuse, and an unabashed glorification of a culture that, though it…

It's all great--the ensemble cast, writing, music, family dysfunction and, especially, how the family pulls together for each other when needed.

A dysfunctional family (each family member has their own form of dysfunction) goes on a road trip together to a kiddie beauty pageant the youngest family member has qualified for. Over the course of the trip they learn to put asside their…

Was this really up for best picture? Really? The filmmakers merge two totally hackneyed indie staples (wacky dysfunctional family with find yourself road trip) in a way that suggests they've just dicovered it. The road is paved with…

Another one of those movies where I realize after 5 to 10 minutes that I'm not going to be into it. So I can't give much of a review other than that. There wasn't much more than one little chuckle in the opening minutes and i could just…

The movie was funny and the little girl did a great job. The grandfather in all his wisdom could've lost the profanity. Just goes to show what people have to do when they don't have and what borderlines trailer trash.

It is able to work as a drama and as a comedy. There are good performances from Steve Carell, Paul Dano, Greg Kinnear, Toni Collette, and Alan Arkin.

A charming and heartwarming story of failure, family, and human resilience—Richard says it all here: “Losers are people who are so afraid of not winning, they don’t even try.” No one in this story wins, but it’s not for lack of trying.
