A clear account of a convoluted and long lasting scandal which rocked all of France well beyond its twelve year duration. The bigotry, corruption (of the French army in particular), and chaotic political tensions make this history seem very Kafkaesque. This tragedy of injustice should be much more well-known than it appears to be in these times.

It's a fascinating and well-written book in my opinion.

I was expecting to learn more about the impact of the affair, especially how it influenced Zionism and anti-Semitism.

This book is underresearched and superficial. The opinions of the author are many but inadequate. There is a huge literature on Dreyfus and many excellent books - this is not one of them.
