I really liked this book. I am a physician and surgeon myself, and I enjoyed this fictional piece. I could relate to some of the characters and their experiences. A good read in my opinion!

I can not call it a novel. It is like an attempt to create something like Grey's Anatomy (American medical drama television series.)
And his admiration for Cable News Network (CNN) (mentioned in the episode where one of the doctors is listening on the car radio news broadcast by CNN, commenting that the cancer is very similar to terrorism) - at this point CNN aired something about terrorism. Give me a break. We all know that Sanjay Gupta is CNN's chief medical correspondent.

A very good book! I happen to like the author very much!

Oh, my goodness, this was not a good book. I actually got up out of my nice warm bed to get a different book to read because this was so awful. The first chapter introducing the characters was positively wooden, with all the characters consisting of grotesquely over-used cliches which, since cliches are over-used by definition, these were over-used squared or cubed.

This book may possibly develop a tolerable plot but I will never know. After reading the first chapter, I consigned it to my "never to be finished" list.

I found the prose to be rather amateurish; I was looking at the words rather than absorbing them and visualizing the scene.
Dr. Gupta may have received accolades from famous people but maybe it has more to do with his skills as a doctor rather than as a writer.
