I agree with a previous reviewer - I think this book plays much better as an audiobook, read by the author. I can see how readers may find the book a lot of name-dropping but in the context of how Mr. Short reads it, it doesn't come across that way in the audiobook.
There is a lot of laugh-out-loud humour and anyone who has any interest in the wonderful world of SCTV, you will enjoy the many references made. The book is well-paced and the author frequently goes into character mode - one of the wonderful features of the audiobook - you get to hear Ed Grimley and Jiminy Glick!
It is anything but humble, but from what I gathered about Mr. Short's style of humour, I believe the title is intended to be funny.
I would definitely recommend this audiobook to anyone who enjoyed SCTV and the early years of SNL (remember when it was good?)

Martin Short is endearing and hilarious. Read by the author, the audio is excellent.

I highly recommend listening to the audiobook version to hear the many characters of Martin Short. He is incredibly articulate, intelligent, thoughtful, and of course, funny. This has given me a new appreciation for this humble comedian!

Martin Short's autobiography with him as narrator with a few of his characters, including my personal favorite, Jiminy Glick. This is a rewarding story of his life with all that impacts us during our short time on earth. A great listen. 9 of 10 stars

Well, this book wasn't humble enough for me. Too much name-dropping!

I recommend that you get it in the audio version. It is great to hear the book and the songs and music that are included. A very good read.

This is an entertaining and poignant account of Short's life and comedy. It's full of crazy comedy bits, tender family stories, show biz giants, and laugh out loud moments. It is a thoroughly enjoyable read.

Definitely worth listening to this biography vs. reading it, to get the voices, singing etc. Very touching chapter on his wife, and great memories of growing up in Hamilton, Ontario.

I enjoyed listening to Martin Short read his memoir. Listening to the man himself read about the story of his life, his friendships with well-known comedians and his loving marriage to wife Nancy was so much better than having it read by another person. If you enjoy Martin Short's humour, you will love this book.
