We teach our kids that Canada became a country in 1867. Nonsense. In that year Canada became a Dominion, the highest level a country could reach under The British Colonial Structure. We had no control over resources, no Supreme Court, no Flag and most importantly no written constitution. This book is important because it documents why it took Canada another 115 years to get its own constitution. What this book provides that others on this topic do not is insight how this matter was perceived by British Senior Officials, Parliamentarians and even Royalty. I give this book 4stars.
