It has been years since the man once known as Tarzan left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane at his side. Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Captain Leon Rom. But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

I would like, and not alone, to see several Tarzan themes resurrected like, Tarzan and the Lost City of Gold, Opar, and others but lets just swing it.....

This movie stars Margo Robbie and Alexander Skarsgard. Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgard) left Africa to be with his wife Jane (Margot Robbie). They are then lured back to the Congo due to a scheme led by King Leopold. When his wife, Jane, becomes involved in their scheme, Tarzan then has to return to the jungle to save his wife. I did enjoy this movie I loved the main actors and actresses, but movie was predictable. I did enjoy the picture and scenes were pretty neat as well. Overall a pretty good action movie and would recommend it for the whole family. 3.5/5 stars @effystonem of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library.

This is a film that continues off of the old Tarzan story, where Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgard) and Jane (Margot Robbie) have now moved to England. But as Tarzan tries to forget his past, he is encouraged to travel back to his home in Africa with Jane and the American envoy, Williams (Samuel L. Jackson). The trio are on a mission to determine whether or not the Congolese people are being enslaved to help Belgium get rid of its debt. However, with the interference of Belgian envoy, Leon Rom (played by Christopher Waltz), the film takes a dramatic turn and the adventure ensues. While the film has some great action scenes, the plot is too predictable. Moreover, even though the film has decent performances, it fails to remain interesting for its entire duration due to its slow pace at times. All in all, I would give it a rating of 3.5 stars. @Riveting_Reviews of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Not bad.

It was a good movie but a little bit different than what I expected. I thought there would have been more family history.

An interesting adaptation of the Tarzan stories with beautiful scenery. Fans of "10,000 BC" will find many similarities here, with some added humorous elements.

Thought the movie was good except Samuel l Jackson's character. I couldn't figure out why he was in it. Seemed like they stuck him in the movie last minute without a script part and then they turned the movie into a social justice theme.
Would have been much better without him and the liberal Hollywood views. Special effects were great.

A 21st century reboot of the pulp/Hollywood/comicbook standard using Adam Hochschild's LEOPOLD'S GHOST for source material. The idea is to tone down some of the most offensively racist and jingoistic aspects of Edgar Rice Burroughs' tale of white supremacy, and make Jane, played ably by Margot Robbie, less of a sex object and more of a feminist. Alexander Skarsgård is decent as Tarzan. But Samuel L. Jackson is atrocious as the historical figure George Washington Williams, and Christopher Waltz I think is miscast as Leon Rom, the real-life basis for Joseph Conrad's Mr. Kurtz in HEART OF DARKNESS (and therefore Marlon Brando's Colonel Kurtz in APOCALYPSE NOW). But the film's weaknesses aren't limited to the acting. The indigenous people of the Congo all look like Westerners who eat a Western diet; the men in particular all looked like they could play linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Why doesn't Tarzan have any facial hair? Does he shave off camera with a Bic disposable? The Shagri-La ending is anachronistic. Leopold's atrocities would grow much worse when he focused on the industrial production of rubber; that hasn't even started by the end of the movie.

Horrendous !!!!

Tarzan was good looking, two dimensional and taciturn, but the Apes were interesting. Margo Robbie's Jane was sufficiently strong, if too modern. Always a pleasure to see Christoph Waltz play a villain.
