Labyrinth is a 1986 musical fantasy films that stars David Bowie as the Goblin King, who takes a young girl’s little brother after she wishes him away. The young girl, Sarah, enters the King’s labyrinth to try and make her way through it in order to save her younger brother. This has become one of my favourite films of all time, next to Pan’s Labyrinth… I think I just really like labyrinths. From the production design, characters and the musical numbers which are all sun by David Bowie himself, it is truly a classic film that was hated when it was released, but now has a large cult following that I gladly follow. 5/5 Stars. @SeraphinaWilliams of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Labyrinth is a film about a girl who goes on a journey to retrieve her brother who has been taken by goblin king, who is played by David Bowie! On her journey, she meets some new friends who help her out. The film is very unique and is very entertaining. It even has David Bowie singing in it! This film is very special to me because it reminds me of watching it when I was younger, though the puppets still scare me. I recommend this film to anyone interested in interesting, fun stories like this, and to anyone who likes David Bowie. I rate this film 5/5. -Gummibee11 of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

This movie is amazing! It’s an amazing fantasy/ adventure story featuring David Bowie (Jareth) and Jennifer Connelly (Sarah). I’ve watched this multiple times and I love it! If you like the weird cult classics I would recommend this! You would need more of an open mind for this, but it’s got Jim Henson’s amazing puppet work and David Bowie’s amazing singing, so what’s not to like?

Jim Henson excelled himself with this one just before his arrangement with Disney Studios. One of the greatest movies of all time. With a cast including David Bowie, which was a stroke of genius and animation like this it was bound to succeed and become a cult legend .A great pity that he died before he knew of its longevity .

This movie is one of my all time favorites. It's imaginative, a bit nutty, has great quotable lines, and flippin David Bowie as the Goblin King! Also The Jim Henson company does the puppets and effects. My only regrets are that Hoggle was lost to the Unclaimed Baggage Center...and Jareth's pants. :/

This is a great movie: its fun, funny, clever, inventive, uses many symbols and mytho-poetic tropes, interesting characters and their development, and there are several morals that it imparts (quite Guilliam-esqe, in fact). I liked how the 'knights and knaves' (a la Smullyan) device was used, but it was only used once! The upshot the film - "you have no power over me" which the main character discovers when she confronts the King of the Goblins - is an important antidote to the exaltation of the power of "story" and narrative that has become a dogma in recent years (indeed, once one realizes that a story is a story, it loses its power).

Well, one thing for sure - "Labyrinth" was certainly no "Sesame Street".

Back in 1986 when this fantasy/adventure film played in the movie theaters, I never got around to seeing it. But, now, viewing it 32 years later, I found myself to be quite let down by its story (which went on for far too long).

I also wish that David Bowie had put a little more wickedness into his rather bland portrayal of the (supposedly) wicked Goblin King, Jareth. But, I guess he had to tone down that sort of stuff since this film was clearly aimed at the kiddies.

Anyway - This bizarre, little movie was OK at best.

Having never gotten around to seeing "Labyrinth" when I was but a wee tyke - Viewing it now, as an adult - I must say that I was tres' disappointed to find out that the late, great pop-icon, David Bowie sure didn't have the acting chops to convincingly play a wicked goblin king. Nope. He didn't.

And, speaking about the atrocious-looking fright-wig that Bowie wore - That, to me, was nothing but a source of "fly-away-hair" annoyance. It really was.

And, on top of that - Labyrinth's decidedly overlong running time of 100 minutes certainly played against its story being able to hold my full attention throughout its entire duration.

Anyway - Yes. Indeed. There were some very entertaining moments in this pre-CGI production. But I couldn't help but find its story to be very reminiscent of "Alice In Wonderland".

Coarse Language: Minor swearing only. Rated PG more for the scary images/goblins, I would think.
