My older brother got me addicted to Chvrches. I now love their music. Especially,
"Playing Dead", "Empty Threat",
Solid follow up to their debut
GOOD 2015 CD with 14 cuts of contemporary electro-pop by talented Scots trio featuring lady vocalist Lauren Mayberry.
Can't remember why I put a hold on it, but I'm glad I gave it a listen to help me keep up with contemporary music that's not in my regular styles of interest.
I was apprehensive that Chvrches could match the genius of their debut album, The Bones of What You Believe. Yet, with this album, they not only eased my fears, but surpassed them. Chvrches returns with Lauren Mayberry's powerful lyrics, their brand of synth-pop stylings, and a more lush sound.
A throwback to 80s pop/electronic dance anthems, the songs will make you want to bounce, dance, and just rock out to in your living room. Lauren Mayberry's girlish and ethereal vocals just work with the music, which range from atmospheric to pure dance beats. This album will be on repeat for me for quite awhile.
