A powerful and thought-provoking true story follows young lawyer Bryan Stevenson and his history-making battle for justice. After graduating from Harvard, Bryan had his pick of lucrative jobs. Instead, he heads to Alabama to defend those wrongly condemned or who were not afforded proper representation, with the support of local advocate Eva Ansley. One of his first and most incendiary cases is that of Walter McMillian.

Well done, well acted, good. To have been treated that way was unforgivable.

An excellent movie with some emotional parts. Did not shine a very positive light on the good old boys in Alabama. I could not believe that this type of activity was still going on during the 80's.

I feel sorry for what the black people had suffered in the past in the US...probably even today. At the same time, I'm moved by the selfless of Bryan Stevenson who's a Harvard graduate. Instead of taking up a high-paying job, he chose to defend those wrongly accused in Alabama. His kindness and sacrifice is something that I should learn from. Glad to find this guy on youtube and listen to his talk

This was a hard movie for me to watch. As a child, I rode on city buses that had signs that said the colored people had to sit in the back of the bus. Even as a small white child, I didn't understand. I will never understand racism and such hatred. While this movie was hard to watch, I'm grateful it was made.

A talented, young lawyer heads to Alabama to defend death row inmates in need of proper legal representation. An excellent, powerful biographical film. Wonderful acting on all parts.

A Black Lives Matter film based on true stories. Well worth watching.

An excellent story, and based on true events which just makes it even a better story, especially in light of current situations. Considering this is not that long ago, it's hard to imagine just how unjust the times were. We all still have a long way to go, I'm afraid but still, we thoroughly enjoyed this movie.

Bryan Stevenson: I came out of law school with grand ideas in my mind about how to change the world. But Mr. McMillian made me realize we can't change the world with only ideas in our minds. We need conviction in our hearts. this man taught me how to stay hopeful, because I now know that hopelessness is the enemy of justice. Hope allows us to push for word, even when the truth is distorted by the people in power. It allows us to stand when they tell us to sit down, and to speak when they say be quiet.
