Kia is sixteen and pregnant. Her world crumbles as she attempts to come to terms with the life growing inside her and what she must do. Initially convinced that abortion is her only option, Kia comes to understand that for her, the answers are not always black and white. As the pregnancy progresses, Kia discovers who her real friends are and where their loyalties lie. It is through her relationship with the elderly Grace that she learns what it means to take responsibility for one's life and the joy that can come from trusting oneself. Faced with the most difficult decision of her life, Kia learns that the path to adulthood is not the easily navigable trail she once thought, but a twisting labyrinth where every turn produces a new array of choices, and where the journey is often undertaken alone.

I was scared when I first read this. But it turned out to be a pretty good book! I wouldn't say the best book but the protagonist was well portrayed and so were the rest of the characters. It got a little boring at times. The action did get picked up though. all in all it was a good read not recommended for ages under 14.

This novel is much alike many other books I've read that focus on teen pregnancy and I found it particularily similar to the novel: Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts and I recommend you to read this book if you enjoyed Dancing Naked.

Shortly after I found out I was expecting, I came across this book. I related with Kia. I was pregnant and a teen. The story helped me cope with being in front of dozens of people while my belly grew, and not to be ashamed. I made a wrong choice, I know. But it happened so I had to face it head on... in front of others, I too had Danced Naked.

Reading this book, Dancing Naked, really opened my eyes to what being an unwed pregnant teenager is really like.
