(seeing a framed and signed black-and-white photo of Julie Newmar in the reflection of the mirror) VIDA: "Look, Miss Julie Newmar has been watching silently over this entire conversation. And look at her, vintage Miss Julie. She is the perfect, the ultimate ... oh! Try to describe her and not use the word 'statuesque'. Oh, Miss Julie, you are statuesque and you were the only Catwoman. Oh, read it please." / (reading the signature on the photo) CHI-CHI: "'To Wong Foo, Thanks for everything! Julie Newmar.' Who was Wong Foo?" / VIDA: "I don't know, but evidently they were close."

This movie is an absolute classic and focuses on the power of self-acceptance. There's not a super in-depth plot, but the heartfelt characters and interactions make this movie such a wonderful gem. Keep an eye out for RuPaul, Robin Williams, and Julie Newmar herself!

Seen this movie several times and still love it. This film was not a cliche' about the GLBT lifestyle and that's what made me like it so much.

This was an entertaining and captivating movie that had me joining them on every little adventure on their way to fame! This movie is enriched with culture from a group that is still pushing to make its way to light. Not to mention that the cast for this film was picked brilliantly.

I enjoyed the aspect this film gave to the struggle and empowerment of the dual-sexes, not just of drag queens, but also to the understanding that there is a beautiful mixture of both masculine and feminine qualities within each of us that makes us human. Truly a classic film, and one that I would recommend to everyone who loves internal combustion as an ultimate accessory :-)

This now-classic drag-queen film was adapted from a real situation that occurred shortly before they decided to do the film. In a Northwestern Central State, there was a town that was close enough to Idaho to attract the attention of the Aryan Nations. At Christmastime one year, the group published in the town that anyone who was Jewish and put Hannukah decorations in their windows would have their houses vandalized.
The town responded by having everybody in town putting up only Jewish-themed lights at that time of year, Stars of David and Menorahs and such, and no Santa Clause or Crosses or Mangers. The Aryan Nations ran from the town in disgrace.

Absolutely hilarious. My sister and I watched this movie and we were just dying of laughter at some points. A touching movie, even though it had its comedy. Spectacular!

One of the best movies in a while. Mr. Patrick Swayze excelled as Vida, Wesley Snipes was a hilarious Noxeema, and Chi Chi was just....Chi Chi. Had me laughing so hard I cried and the ending almost made me cry! Wonderfully done by such great actors and actresses. Patrick's drag queen voice made me giddy for some reason, and his one line had me falling off my seat out of laughter! Fantastic movie, definetely going to watch multiple more times! Job well done to the actors! And (because I can) R.I.P. Patrick Swayze

the three girlz are really men no way. lol funny. love each one Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo all play the perfect part.
play a sassy but smart woman. who also has a firy hot bad side too.
Patrick Swayze was this elegant woman with grace and style. Yet also had a motherly personailty about her.
John Leguizamo was this little princess who also a wild person. Annd m0re a child like image. always have to do what she wanted. but in the end she is sweet compassionate woman.

Despite its flaws, this film is always a fun ride. And it's a great film to teach younger children about equality, while still having enough jokes to appeal to older audiences. I always found it rather funny that they cast Leguizamo, Swayze, and Snipes; it felt like they cast against type, but sometimes that's for the best, as this film shows. And of course, love the cameos. Especially John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt. ("The people always shout!")

Coarse Language: One use of the word "dick" (mild cuss, not explicit), in addition to fairly mild ethnic slurs (that would be missed by children, and probably would only be noticed if actively looking for something profane).

Three drag queens (two co-winners of a New York pageant and their naive up-and-comer friend) drive cross-country from the Big Apple to the Drag Queen of America pageant in Hollywood, California. However, their old Cadillac convertible breaks down and the trio is stuck in middle America where alternative lifestyles of any sort are far less tolerated than in the big cities on either coast. Their presence leads to comedic hijinks that have less to do with their genderqueer identities, but rather their social and economic status as women (as the town is convinced they are women) in a town ruled by straight old white guys.
