Steve Rogers, a man unnaturally small and weak, wants to become a soldier and serve his country in the second World War. Naturally, he is looked down upon and barely makes it, until he is given the super soldier serum, making him average height, and much stronger than the average man. He then leads the army to defeat HYDRA and its leader: Red Skull, and is dubbed Captain America. This movie starts off similar to a lot of other movies, where the main character is at a disadvantage compared to the average person, and they have a dream or goal that would be almost impossible for this specific person. Although it seems generic at first, I still couldn't help but feel sympathy for Steve, as he was still a good person who wanted to do the right thing. However, in movies like this, when the character finally gets their chance to achieve their dream, they never waste it, which is what this movie did. Throughout the movie, as Steve is doing what he can to help, I couldn't help but think of how he was in the beginning of the movie, compared to how he is at the end of the movie. THe pace of it is perfect, not too fast, or too slow, and the actual plot is good as well. It's an overall good movie that gets its message across well, and I would recommend it to those who enjoy war movies, or just movies with the standard formula of zero to hero. 4.0 /5 -@InboundMink of the Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board My family and I decided to watch all of the Marvel movies in chronological order, The First Avenger being the first in line. We all thought that it was a great movie, and the perfect start to our marathon! Steve Rogers, a.k.a Captain America, is very likeable and down-to-earth. The producers did a great job at developing his character, as it makes the audience feel more connected and care more about him. The storyline was fantastic and the 2+ hours flew by! I would highly recommend this movie to people of all ages! It is full of action, and is very entertaining! @PenelopeScriptor of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library Captain America: The First Avenger changes the game for Marvel, introducing a supersoldier into the mix who comes from the era of World War II. The war aspect of the film was most interesting, setting Steve aside from all we’ve seen before and setting up relationships we know that we’ll never see again. His character arc is one of the most highly developed in Marvel up until the point of this film’s release and even introduces Tony Stark’s father, leaving us with unanswered questions as to why he’s so different from what we know. The film is funny at the right times and emotional at others, giving off a classic comic book feel we know and love. Rating: 4/5 @RiverPark of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public LIbrary Captain America The First Avenger was the best Captain America movie I have seen I really liked this movie because it shows you how Captain America became the first avenger or how he got his superpowers. I also really liked this movie because it shows us who the first villain in the marvel universe was. Without giving any spoilers, this movie is about a man and him gaining superpowers, he was the first of his kind as was used to fight wars against other countries or group of people such as the Nazis. I also really liked this movie because it showed us how Captain America was like before he became apart of the official avengers. Another thing I liked about this movie because it showed us how Captain America was feeling throughout the whole movie, for these reasons I would give this movie a 5/5 rating. @Teen15 of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
