Summary

Ela Roeh of Parne has many reasons why she shouldn't become a prophet. She has a bad temper, is unrefined, makes irrational decisions...not to mention she is only seventeen and a girl! But the creator has His reasons for picking Ela to be His prophet. If she accepts His offer, the wise, old saying will become evident in her own life. Ela will die young. Yet after enduring the painful torture of being without her Creator, she knows that a life without Him is no life at all. She accepts His offer and is sent to Istgard, a land torn apart by war, idolatry, greed, and power. The future of two nations now rest in the hands of this inadequate young girl.
