This amazing book completely captures the true life events that led to the murder of a family of four in what we think of as a gentler time. The language subtly wound itself like a cashmere white scarf with a comforting Christmas scene in a sweet but grief stricken family in the first part of the book. Then just as swiftly as their murders happen, the next part of the story is brought forward with well drawn characters some fictional and some from true life. The hunt for truth and justice is a hard road to travel but in the end the grace and kind intelligence of the people who have longed for completion is told with such compassion that I could not but find the ending completely satisfying. For readers who enjoyed All the Light You Cannot See, this book may interest you.
