I would give this book a 4 star rating because after reading the first book (Eye of Minds) I felt like this book got a little bit boring in the middle. SPOILER ALERT at the end, though, when Micheal got released from jail, things got interesting and a big twist was incorporated. The boring part was when he was in the body of someone else and was looking for Sarah. Personally I think the author made that very long and it made me less engaged. However if you keep up with the novel the ending is really very good and it also leaves you hanging. Overall this book is a 4 star book because I thought that some parts got really boring but the end is definitely worth it. - @Bookreader14 of The Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board Who doesn't enjoy some sci-fi or dystopia every so often? Personally, this series/trilogy isn't one of my favorites, or even close, but I am willing to read it and find out what happens in the end. In this sequel to "The Eye of Minds," the plot becomes more entangled in the world of reality. It reaches stages where the characters and even audience have no idea what is virtual, and what is real. The writing style is a tad disappointing in comparison to the Maze Runner stuff, and I would recommend this only conditionally. - @Siri of The Hamilton Public Library's Teen Review Board Sequel to The Eye of Minds, The Rule of Thoughts continues to follow Michael’s attempts to save the world. Michael, former Tangent, tries to make sense of his new life while trying to escape Kaine’s dangerous motives. Michael is yet again on the run with his friends, but this time, in the real world. The greatest challenge for them is to determine whom they should trust. Full of twists and turns, the plot is simply captivating. The purpose of the Mortality Doctrine is clearer in this book than its prequel, yet there remain many unanswered questions. Overall, this second installment provides much information about the advanced world and its technology. Though the real and virtual realms are confusingly tangled with each other, the threat to humanity is a very real and serious issue throughout the story. For those who have read its prequel, The Rule of Thoughts is a must-read! Rating: 5/5 - @VirtueofReading of the Teen Review Board of the Hamilton Public Library
