I enjoyed this well-written biography from '70s one-hit wonder ("Dream Weaver") Gary Wright. It is actually not fair to label Wright a "Johnny One Note." He had a productive career as a co-vocalist (he sang the high parts) and Hammond organ player for acid rockers Spooky Tooth before striking out on his own as a solo act for A&M Records. It was during this period that Wright befriended George Harrison while he was a session player on Harrison's ALL THINGS MUST PASS. The "Quiet Beatle" turned Wright onto Yogananda's AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF YOGI, which Wright credits with inspiring his mega-hit "Dream Weaver." Knowing very little about Kriya Yoga and Yogananda's Self-Realization Fellowship I found the second half of the book very interesting. It seems to me that Eastern esoteric religion provided an ambitious Wright with a way to cope with the cutthroat competition of the music industry.
