A good movie for people of all ages. With proper adult guidance, children can benefit from the characters. This (1975) movie deserves better re-mastering Aristocrats and Imperial colonialists have bred their own class of brats served by a sub-class of humiliatingly subservient workers. It's comforting to see brats can still be somewhat changed for the better by the kindness and humanity of "inferior" folks. Unsatisfying ending: little Mary Lennox was glossed over and not given proper credit by her uncle for the changes she bestow on the house-whole. Try the Broadway musical on CD by Lucy Simon and Masha Norman, also available from NYPL. At the end, little Mary was welcome by her rich uncle to the family. Its seems likely she was to receive good education and quite possibly a handsome inheritance someday.
