With LETHAL AGENT Kyle Mills once again does a great job carrying on with Vince Flynn's (RIP) Mitch Rapp series. Set within the backdrop of the current political chaos in this country, there is an existential threat of an ISIS planned attack on the USA with a horrible biological agent cultivated from the chaos in Yemen. This backdrop requires a lot of maneuvering to halt the threat while at the same time fending off the aspirations of one ego maniac whose sick need to be the next president and who has it out for Rapp, the CIA as a whole, and anyone else standing in the way. Helped along of course by a media more focused on ratings by providing political "entertainment" rather than factual news. The story is really well-plotted and tightly written. I will say the way decisions are made in the context of hyper-political elections has always bothered me; but the thought that presidential candidates could set aside national interests in times of crisis to assure winning an election is cutting really close to the bone of where we are right now as a Nation. Great read.
