This is a 1941 romantic psychological thriller directed by Alfred Hitchcock, based on Francis Iles's novel: "Before the Fact" (1932). Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine play as a married couple. Compared to "Rebecca" and "Psycho", this film seems like a child's play and comedy. As the undisputed master of suspense, however, Hitchcock will keep you glued to the film until the stunning final scene with twists and turns. But, some scenes are too contrived. For example, Hitchcock shows Cary Grant push his friend from the cliff, which is an unrealistic and somewhat laughable action and turns out a red herring. In the final scene as the couple drive back home, it is clear from the shot from behind that doubles have been used and the two characters in the scene are not Joan Fontaine and Cary Grant.
