This book is a great study of interpersonal relationships, the intimate sort. Ford, a master as far as I am concerned, focuses on the shortcomings of long term relationships, the foibles of desire, our inability to be or remain satisfied with those we love. And how we stumble toward calamity and unsatisfying relations to remedy what we perceive as lacking. Yet something is always out of our reach, not what we dreamed up. This collection of stories should be taught in a class soon after a marriage license has been obtained.
