This is a superb book--one that while heaped in the realities of "the rise of the rest" retains the vital optimism of the future. It is a welcome relief in the face of the rise of a nativist nationalism, of the fears of the falling middle class, and the irrationality of the weak and the strong that dominates current domestic discourse. Can we rediscover that which makes America great? Can we recover our core social values? Can we build on what is still there? These are questions that Zakaria--one of the most important societal commentators today--addresses in his book.
A refreshing, must read book!
