I became a fan of the superb TV series starring David Suchet et al, and slowly became more of a Poirot fan. While Suchet's Poirot is definitive, and any other may seem somehow off, Albert Finney is a great actor and the essence of Poirot's character, aside from the little grey cells, is his idiosyncratic nature. Finney gives a very strong idiosyncratic Poirot that makes this film very enjoyable. The rest of the all star cast does a great job, even Lauren Bacall, with Lynn Redgrave and Wendy Hiller coming close to stealing the show. It's great Poirotiana and I am quite pleased to see a somewhat different, and masterful, interpretation of Poirot.
