Like most Koontz books, the pleasure comes from the way he has with words, the mental pictures he can conjure up. But plot is not one of his strong points, and endings...well, this book in particular doesn't really have one. It certainly doesn't answer the giant "Why" that hangs over the whole story from the very beginning. Don't read Koontz for a well-resolved plot and you won't be disappointed.
