I'd never heard of Mary Lawson and now a fan. A Town Called Solace was a solace to me in these awful times. It's a tight, well-written, limited to several very complex and interesting character novel. I highly recommend it for anyone who would like to read and think about what small town life is like and the role it plays in developing its residents for good and less so. It applies as easily to today as any book I've read of late but is free from the checklist required in novels these days of political correctness.
