Fengjie's old town is underwater, and the new neighborhood is unfinished. Han Sanming, a miner, travels to Fengjie to find his ex-wife after 16 years. They reunite by the Yangtze River and decide to remarry. Shen Hong, a nurse, goes to Fengjie to find her husband, missing for two years. They hug in front of the Three Gorges Dam and, despite sharing a dance, decide to divorce.
